We are Tom and Liz Burroughs. We live in a small village in the county of Essex, England and we would like to welcome you to our home in Florida.
We first went to Florida 12 years ago and fell in love with Disney, the attractions (and there weren't that many back then!) and the American people and way of life. We have 2 children, Caroline (27) she manages a UK travel agency and is very fond of "The Mouse" and the Florida sunshine (probably in reverse order). Edward is 18 and prefers the attractions of Universal's Island of Adventures and Citywalk - now that he is "too old" for Disney.
We booked one of the first package trips out of the UK 12 years ago to Orlando and stayed in fairly basic motel type accommodation. We were so overwhelmed with Disney and the attractions that we did not let this impair our vacation. We then started staying in better quality hotels, but 2 adults and 2 kids in 1 room are no fun. We soon realised the benefits of renting a vacation villa - so much more space, freedom to prepare meals and most of all, the sparkling private heated pool to come back to at the end of a tiring day in the parks. (And - no problem with the hotel pool being closed at 8 pm when the kids want to swim while Mum and Dad relax with a glass of wine).
We purchased our home in Calabay Parc last year, it was one of the first villas we looked at - and we looked at many, but we were smitten with the villa and the community. As proud owners, we are somewhat biased in our opinion and tend to feel a little bit envious when guests rent our home. Tom's mum made her first trip to Orlando with us last year at the age of 69, and she is now "hooked".
